The following is the last year a number of our 2010 classes of Junior Fellows. it was written by Carrie Smith, recently completed the New York University.

When a student at the University of New York for four years I went to class building, Washington Place, just east of Washington Square Park., March each year at the latest, would be placed on the outside of the building near the small plate flowers. This is the triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, 146 garment workers lost what his life industrial disaster site.  

To the safety provisions are so closely linked to this building and its story, I was excited to come across a piece of sheet music. (I) continue to this summer in the two previous Junior Fellows, the digitisation of Irene Heskes Collection of Yiddish-American sheet music items to work. One of my last weeks is a library I found "Di Fire Korbunes", written by David Meyerowitz and Louis Gilrod. The song is elegy was Jewish immigrants, many of the fire victims.

Sheet music, in addition to another project I have worked in Africa and the Middle East region. Hebraic section is a collection of rare Hebrew in miniature books that poorly accommodation and somewhat neglected. When I got the Library, some 60 books were two large sections of the document, a complete disarray. I sifted through the paragraphs and runs for each book conservation determining statistical information have been damaged or has is required.I then measured books and install a new acid-free boxes. Now each book has its own clearly marked on the shelf Hebraic cycle "Pinot box. Finding also created for books so that they would be more accessible to researchers.

Books was to a large extent religious, prayer books, or Jewish writings dating back to the Bible (the Torah) than 1573. There were also some more recent books (in any of the 1974-1986), travel information and children's stories.They were in different locations, including Antwerp, Venice, Warsaw, Berlin, Vienna, Amsterdam and Jerusalem are printed.Their small size (in miniature is technically 3 inches high, broad and thick) easily around them.This is probably why there are so many.People can perform the prayer books about their pockets and is always them if necessary.

This project brought me Conservation Division, where I had the opportunity to work in the lab and learn more about the history of paper, binding, and much more.Books are tytölle and running and had to work with the ilo.
